I just got my msi hd7950 2x razor card I have a sound issue.

okay msi hdmi/ to sony tv/ optical to a stand alone processor.


sound is dropping out with netflix streaming..

10 seconds good 1 sec bad. 20 seconds good 2 sec bad.

very random pattern.

sound works fine with a dvd in the samsung bluray player in the same pc.

sound is good with a mac to the sony to the processor.

sound is good with a stand alone blu ray player to the sony

and sound is good with the sony.

Kind of leaning to a driver issue with ati video cards and silverlight,

but the sound works with a dvd just not streaming I will play some you tube if that works I guess catalyst and netflix are not happy.

I prefer using the hdmi into the sony with the optical out to the processor.

ease of wiring. any ideas or work arounds

Use optical from your motherboard and HDMI to TV. Remove your TV from any and all sound passthrough/processing.

I have same issue. Somebody on Hardforum has a thread as well.

Common theme: 12.6 or 12.7b with HDMI using Netflix

Rolling back to 12.4 fixes it. I personally see a big performance boost with 12.7 over 12.4, so I am using Optical Sound until AMD fixes the driver.

The new 12.8 beta fixed a number of issues including this sound problem. Fixed!

Skyrim is fixed, CCC is fixed, BF BD2 is fixed.

I set it up with an optical cord from my mobo to my processor works very nice . I did an easy overclock 920 core and 1300 memory instead of stock 880 core 1250 memory. i ran a kombuster before the clock it did 59 fps after 63 fps. this was on 1920 by 1080p. Nice card very quiet card. this was a nice deal. my build now runs really quiet. wei scores of 7.7 cpu and all 7.9's.

I have a realtek alc 898 sound chip on the mobo, does anyone have a link for its specs. I can not find it on realtek site.
