How bad is bad?

Is it bad enough to keep you out of Tier 3/4 schools?

no, I can get into a tier 1 school, but I wanted to get into the top 25 law schools

I don't think I can now
 
I got mine today too; somehow I overachieved and got 4 points higher than my best practice test. Of course my GPA is crap so the top schools are probably going to throw out my app on my first site. What schools are you looking at, and what kind of stats do you have?

ugrad GPA: 3.1 (hopefully 3.15 by the time I graduate)... steady increasing trend
LSAT score: 158

going to grad school before law school... I'm hoping to apply with at least a 3.5
 
*shrugs* those number don't mean to much to me since i don't plan on going to grad or the lsat, though i feel for you on the gpa 🙂 mine's around there too.

Even with a 158, 3.1GPA, unless you are 1/4 asain, 1/4 black, 1/4 indian and 1/4 hispanic lesbian woman your not going to get into a tier 1 or 2 school. If you are a WASP, you can forget it, unless your daddy has connections or your mom has good knee pads.

🙂 Texas Tech Law School is a great school.
 
Sorry to hear about it, but if you have a strong resume (besides GPA and LSAT) you can probably get into a lower 1st tier or 2nd tier school. In fact, I know two people at my school (lower 1st tier) that got the same score as you. One of them landed a job a year before graduating at a corporate law firm in Orlando.

Even if you don't get into law school, it may be a blessing in disguise. From my experience, I'm not sure these 3 years of aggravation were worth it to me. You'll hear a lot of lawyers say don't go into law for the money, and now I completely agree. Even if you love nitpicking details and reading legalese, you have to work long hours to earn your money.
 
Just got mine too and didn't perform as well as I thought. After taking the test I wasn't feeling too good about my performance, but my score is even a bit more lack than I thought it would be.
