I had a student charge card with American Express for about a year and a half.

Then in last December I applied for Blue and got it with a $2,000 credit line (my first real credit card... I don't even have a Visa).

It wasn't elligable for a credit increase untill you have had it for over 6 months.

I didn't even ask for an increase and they just sent me a letter saying they have increased it from $2,000 to $8,000.

That seems like quite a lot to me.

I've always paid off my balance ever month.

yeah that sounds like a lot. if you aren't comfortable with that big a credit line you can ask them to reduce it.

All of my accounts tend to increase my credit limit at about $8-$10 per day (in chunks of course). Thus I average a $1650 increase per card every 6 months. Your increase is substantially larger.

They want you to charge more sh!t to your card to put you further in debt so you have to pay more in finance charges.
