I just got my financial aid refund check!

what do you mean by refund check from financial aid?

It's the money that you don't use. So say you were awarded $7,200 for the fall semester, but yet your college tuition is only at $3,000 then you get the remainder in a check. That can help you to purchase books, pay bills, etc. It's a nice sum of money for me. I do have to pay it back though. It's not given to me for free, unless I'm able to secure grants which is hard to do considering the poor economic climate that this country is in.

Um, correct me if I'm wrong, but he has a loan that he took out that's larger than his tuition. So, when the bank releases the funds, the university takes out its cut and then gives him the rest.

I got $1000 given to me, it was leftover from scholarships and TOPS program. No loans, nothing to pay back. Cleared about $600-700 after books and other general expenses. Feels good making a profit going to school.

Please tell me that you are going to invest this money in a very safe place so that you can repay your loan more easily.

Please don't be ignorant. I have to pay this back. Me Me Me. Not you... well unless I decide to default. 😀 Which isn't going to happen.

So what do you think I do with the money? That's right, I pay bills. I live on my own, and I have CC payemts, loan payments, rent, electric, food. Oh, and I work 40 hrs a week doing midnight security .

So what type of guy am I now?

😉

Isn't financial aid given to you not leant?

there are different types. technically, a low (unsubsidized or not) is considered financial aid and goes through the financial aid office of the school

Actually yes it is. You can get finanical aid which you don't have to pay back and student loans which you do. I'm guessing this is a student loan. That's what most people have.

i usually get $3,000 per semester..... from grants mostly. Tuiton is paid by scholarship.
I don't have to take out a loan... but if i do, that's an extra $1,000 per semester. So that makes about $4,000 transferred into my bank after tuiton, books, and everything deducted. That $3,000 is supposed to go to rent and food. But my dad sends me the rent money since me and my sister live together. And for food... we buy grocery with my weekly paycheck.
I think it's a pretty good deal if you ask me.... thank god i didn't try go to out of state. This is number one reason i stayed in-state 🙂

Not when you live with your parents who willingly pay everything for me. No, I'm not spoiled. I do take it for granted sometimes, but I appreciate every dollar they pay for me. I just love my parents, best in the world.
