Was it the metal or silicon part?
Was the metal rusty?

Wash the area with anti-bacterial substances or some hydrogen peroxide. Then apply a bandage tightly. If the wound is deep, seek medical assistance perhaps with stitches. I don't think you have to worry about tetanus, but better safe than sorry. For pain, take aspirin.

Ok, follow the instructions on the last post. If you start to get pain, use some warm water and soak it in there.

I've lived by the motto, if you haven't bled in your computer, it isn't really yours. :)

I cut my hand up pretty bad pulling a CD assembly out of a B&W PowerMac G3. The thing was sticking and when I pulled really hard, it flew through my hands. I just kept it cleaned, covered and neosporined.

I don't think you need a tetanus shot. They are good for ~17 years. I just found this out the other day because i put my hand through a window and cut myself pretty badly. Right down to the bone on the 4 of my knuckles. :Q I found there was no need unless you haven't had a booster in 10 years or so.

Tetanus is pretty unlikely, especially since you have had a booster in the recent past. The greatest danger from any wound is infection. You can clean it well as mentioned above and put a band aid on it. Keep an eye on it for a few days. Doctors, on the other hand, would probably adivse you to seek medical assistance for the smallest abrasion.

They are good for 7 years (not 17) for "heavy use" and about 10 for "normal" use. That is what an ER doc told me about them. I always ask my patients when their last tetanus shot was.

Hmm...i'll take your word for it since you're the expert.
:)

But after putting my hand through a window do you think it would be neccessary to get a tetanus shot? I cleaned the wound thoroughly everyday since it happened (4 days ago) and there are no signs of infection. It seems to be healing fast and i show no signs of tetanus. I think i had a booster about 5 years ago. Do you think it's absolutely imperative that i get a booster?
