I just got back from Staples with a $18.50 plain paper fax

I was at Staples today for a $19.99 1Gb SD card and a Norton 3-pack (FAR Price matched to Circuit City) when I happened to check out the clearance table. A large out of the box Brother plain paper fax caught my eye. The clearance tag hidden on the side said $18.50 so I quickly told my son to ?Get a cart!? I asked one of the red shirts if they still carried toner cartridges for that model and he said yes $59.99 for one that printed 3000 sheets. Ok I?ll grab one of those next time. Got a few other things and checked out. The register spit out a rebate for the Norton and another rebate receipt. There is a Norton upgraders rebate at the Circuit City site so I figured that was it.

I got home and checked the ?fax? model PPF4100 to find out that is a LASER PSC with usb to your PC that is listed for $199.99!!!

I then checked my receipt and found a $30 e@sy rebate on the PSC/Fax!!! No tax in Oregon so they are PAYING me $11.50 for buying it!!!

Yea, my local Staples NEVER has good clearance deals. Hell they are still trying to sell FX5200 AGP cards for $59.99!

I am thinking this was supposed to have been marked $185.00, only a cheap @ss $14.99 discount.

Last month I bought a 250 dollar desk for 5 bucks after tax because the box was open and it was missing the "hardware." I just took my drill and some screws and put it together.

Cool, but did they PAY you to take it? I'll have to be on the lookout for a clearence kids computer desk or a printer cart. ShopKo is where I usually get the best deals on clearence desks and tables, although not for $5 wow!

i once got a 100 pack of CD-R's for free. free. that's right. also a 100 pack of slim jewel cases. the rebate made it free. on thankgiving 2001, i got 768MB of PC133 SD-RAM for 24 pucks. amazing deals you get.

fax modems FTW! only for the reason that they do not take up valuable desktop real estate space.

I once bought a $550 Bush computer desk for $50 because it was a demo model. Was in great shape though, only thing was that we had to dissassemble it and put it in the car ourselves.

Agreed. Waitasecond... I think that's 1985 calling... they say they want their technology back.

I admit they are a giant pain, but I still have to use them all the time. The problem is that scanners aren't that prevalent in many offices.

Exactly. In many cases a faxmodem is useless without a scanner.

Deal of the year? Not if you actually ended up having to give them some money for your purchase, no.

Spend more time in the universe of the ferengi, my son, and you will begin to understand. 😉

double 😕

Well since I run a small business out of my home, I do! I like the fax/modem on my computer for receiving faxes, but some companies still fax to my main phone line. The old thermal paper fax that has served that line is going to be replaced. It just blew me away to find the e@sy rebate on my receipt when I got home!

The Norton was FAR, and I am used to it.

And all this time, I've been holding up the piece of paper to the screen to send it. Damn. Guess that doesn't work. :frown:

😀

All-in-one machines for the win.

I doubt you will get the full rebate. Most rebates will only give it up to the value of the item. Since you only paid $18 for it, thats all you will get. Who knows, they may be an ass about it and say the rebate is not applicable on clearance items.
