As a holder of an American passport, I tried to take a overseas tours such as morningstar tours in the Mongkok area(much cheaper in HK) to Taiwan and was told that the prices are only for HK citizens and not available to others.

Why? Language barrier? We had a few persons in our group that speaks Cantonese and Mandarin...

I am Chinese American but I don't need a visa for Taiwan, HK, Japan or Korea. China and Vietnam is another story...

So if you applied for a Chinese passport you'd be able to get one? That's what they're looking for.
