I love it, i find it has the same pros and cons as other reviews, including the keyboard thing, but otherwise it is great. i had a question for anyone who uses one of these machines, or something similar. Icons and things on the deskop look great, but when i surf the net, a lot of the pictures look really bad, like a little fuzzy and stuff, how can i fix this? other than that problem, everything looks clean and crisp, i am on the native res, if that helps. thanks in advance

Pictures? Are you sure it's not just text? My text was fuzzy until I turned off anti-aliasing in display properties.

I'm positive its not the text, because all the text looks very clear, its just the pictures are messed up. I think it has something to do with stretching the pictures to accomodate the high resolution.

About the batter life, I am using no extra's and i get about 3~4 hours on it depending on usage. If I'm just surfing the net, closer to 4, if im gaming of watching dvd's, closer to 3.

About the heat, i think the best way to describe it would be it gets from warm to a little hot whenever I leave it on. =\ sorry if that is kind of vague, ill try to find out exacts for you whenever i can.

i also have the I8500 right now but ordered the x1000 after looking at it.

heat issue: it does get really warm to little hot (you can touch it but you cant place your hand there for like 15sec)
battery life: ~2:45 - 3:00 hours watching DVD's

features wise, i like the I8500 much better than the x1000 (still to receive in couple of days) but i really hate the keyboard on the I8500. that is one reason that has forced me to switch to x1000 after seeing it at local CC.....
the case also looked good on the x1000......if you apply finger pressure on the I8500, the case bends and gives slight squeaky noises........but peformance wise, i will my 8500 will be better b/c of its 4200 gf4 video card....

here are the specs on both:

I8500:
P4 2.0 Ghz mobile
512MB PC2100 memory
64MB GF4 4200 mobile
30GB HD
15.4" WUXGA

X1000:
1.4 P-M (centrino)
128MB PC2100 + 512MB PC2100
64MB ATI Radeon 9200
40GB HD
15.4" WSXGA+

other featues are about the same....will update more than i get my x1000 and i can compare them side by side.

seriously though, can anyone help? i am on win xp home, the res is 1920x1200. EVERYTHING else looks crisp, except for pictures such as teh andandtec logo, its really pixelised.

I have the opportunity to buy a new Del Inspiron 8500 from someone for $850 and am wondering what's wrong with the keyboard? I have to do a lot of fast typing on it. Thanks.
