I just got an email for a sweet deal from Newegg...

$830 is hella cheap for a BluRay. Just the optical drive upgrade I've been waiting for... oh wait, it's IDE.

This is a BluRay burner, so for a kidney and your right pinky finger you can get a stack of BluRay-R to burn media onto. Big difference from the PS3 😉

Are there any comments for this product on the Egg yet? You know those awesome viral marketers, "OMGLOLOSAUCE!!1!! My computer boots up so much fasta now, ur a fool if you don't bye this!!1"

Plextor's site says 9MB/sec Read/Write speed for BD. That'd be around fifty minutes for 25GB of data, which is the capacity of the blank disks. That' doesn't include verification time, which, for sure, I'd want to do if there was anything important on the BD.

"Instant Savings" is bogus. Other mongers are offering the drive for the same price with 2-day shipping. Anyhoo, the specs suck for other formats and if you really want a BD burner other brands can be had for significantly less (not surprisingly since Plextor neither designs nor manufactures primary components).
