is it essentially the same thing as the PE? cuz on visiontek's site, they have a PE version as well. im just wondering if this card will be the same as a PE after i flash it. on visiontek's site, my card is at 500/1000 while the PE is 520/1120. any ideas? thanks.

oh my card has vivo...

Don't flash it. That could cause problems. Just overclock it to XT PE speeds (520/560). I think you'll have no problem getting even farther, say, to 550/590.:)

Same hardware, just lower clocks. Still darned fast. :) I wouldn't risk borking it by OCing, especially if the rest of your system is holding it back.

Supposedly supplies of XTs will far outpace those of XTPEs, so you'll be seeing more of them. Whether the lower clocks are due to GPUs not clocking a whole 20MHz higher, or a limited supply of 560MHz GDDR3, who knows.

It's basically a PE that didn't make the cut at 520/1120 and was branded as a non-PE. Some of these OC pretty well according to users and reviews. I've got the same card and it's pretty sweet. I haven't overclocked it yet and don't know if I will since 500/1000 seems to handle everything pretty well. Flashing the bios may get you a slightly higher OC, but like ScrewFace said it's safer to just OC without flashing.

yeah i dont need to play anything that will maximize its capabilities anyways, i just wana try it just to see if it could be done.

so basically the general consensus is that it is generally the same card, but lower clocks (same physical card)

im not sure if the visiontek xt pe even has a different cooler or not...

megatomic: i got the card from fry's

probably has the same cooler...........jus leave it as it is, its way fast enough for anygame....including doom3. its about 2% slower than a pe i think...from the bench i saw. coz most of the time......CPU IS THE LIMITING FACTOR

It is exactly the same card with just lower clocks. There is NO archetectural difference between the two cards. Oh and by the way, nice card. :)
