I just got a summer internship offer and I accepted it!

I'll be working at IBM Silicon Valley labs, I'll be working on the mainframe version of their SQL server (DB2 for Z/OS). Last yr I developed and implemented a test plan for a new function in the next version of DB2. This yr I think I'm working on a part of their software for "self healing" databases, basically i'm writing a program to do trend anaysis that notifies the DBA or the system (if they set to auto update i think) to update the stats for a given table.

I'm so happy! I was gonna go to Stanford for summer school but now i'm getting paid to learn instead of pay to learn, and I get paid pretty well too .

On a related note, I applied for a research grant for the summer and got turned down. I guess that's what happens when you have a 3.25 GPA, you're an economics and mathematics major, and you're applying for a grant that normally gets top engineering students.

Now to look for other jobs that will allow me to stay in the Seattle area.

 

Sounds like a sweet internship for you.

As for me, I'm only a sophomore, but next year I'm gonna try REALLY REALLY hard for a job in federal law enforcement (ATF, INL, FBI, Postal Police, etc.).

good luck with your jobquest jumpr. Gettin anything with the FBI will be tough. Im possibly thinking about a federal agency somewhere down the line.
