I just got a second cable box for free

It has Svideo and the regular rca (yellow). I'm quite sure my card supports it, i just don't know what prog to use to possibly watch tv on my comp with the x1900

You should be able to hook it up and use pretty much any video capture software like CyberLink's PowerDirector (or something similar) to watch the input.

i thought all x1900xt/xtx's have vivo.

and i would think that ati would bundle some software in to let you view inputs.

dammit, i forget the name of this one program that my brother once had...he played his gamecube via his geforcefx 5950 ultra and it was some free program too. oh well.

Hmm... never really looked into VIVO technology before. But I get it now, it's not a tuner so it can't decode it's own TV, but the digital box would do that for you, so...

Pretty sure Media Player Classic can open a stream via a device... and I know some versions of virtualdub will do it. Pete would know, for sure.

MPC doesn't seem to be able to properly decode an incoming stream for my X1900XT, at least from my experience. Though it does generally work with VIVO cards.

I believe that there's a program in ATI's Multimedia Center that would allow you to watch video input on your computer.
