So I graduated from the University of Florida with a master's degree and have decided to go back after a year off and get a doctorate. I got this letter today (paraphrased):

Congratulations, I am pleased to inform you that you have been awarded a Named Presidential Fellowship by the Graduate School.....the award is for four years at a stipend level of $14,000.00 for 12 months plus a waiver of your tuition....

The college I am applying to, the College of Health & Human Performance, only gives out one of these for the entire college per year.

SWEET!
God is so good!

btw, you can list that on your c.v. as an honor -- nice to have guaranteed funding, just be sure to perform well :)

I'm going to be starting grad school for my Masters in a couple years. Any idea what kind of benefits I should get?

I'm not really sure what you mean by benefits. If you mean finaicial aid, there are scholarships and loans you can get. If you are going into a Master's program, there should be plenty of things you can do to secure an assistantship, in which they waive your tuition and pay you a stipend. If you have any skills in sports, check out the Sport & Fitness Dept. (or whatever it is called in your school). Graduate Assistants taught all the undergrad classes like basketball, flag football, jogging, weight training, etc. You do not have to be super qualified to do this. It's all about networking. See who is in chareg of that well beforehand and meet with them. Build some repore. Try to get yourself hired to teach a few classes. Trust me, if you are going to grad school for anything, there are a million ways to have the school pay fot it!
