Hopefully the op will get tired of gaming on his new 7850 at some point. :)

Ha! Indeed!

Quite the tease post there, OP :awe:

Ok, I have a question.

Folding @ Home PPD. If you have any questions about getting the v7 client setup to pull down OpenCL units, I'll be happy to assist. You only need let it run for a few hours to get an idea of how PPD will shape up, I think there is only one type of WU out there for AMD OpenCL.

Please and thank you :)

How does it handle anti-aliasing, explosions and smoke? I have some bad experiences with AMD/ATI cards when it comes to these features (my 8800GT did better than my HD4890, could even handle 16xQAA where my Radeon can't manage 4x).

How loud is it? Does it have 1 or 2 6-pin power connectors?

ok sorry for all the lame jokes rofl :D

it's not loud, the 120mm fans in my case set on high, to give you an example, are much louder.

It only has 1 6pins connector (pci-e)

And the Card is freaking SMALL !!! smaller than my radeon 5850.

Sure - happy to! It is a scientific application that does work on your GPU (and CPU, if so configured.)

There are two main steps.

http://folding.stanford.edu/ Download and install the app. I believe this will also have your create an account. Be sure to join team # "192" - that's TeAm Anandtech :)

It will create "slots" during the initial configuration, I would just have it create one GPU slot and forgo using your CPU (for now.) This will ensure the GPU gets the CPU assistance needed to work optimally.

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...ore-16-taking-amd-gpu-folding-next-level.html <-- Tweak your F@H client settings so you get the newer OpenCL WU's

Let it run! :)

After ~20 minutes or so, you should be able to spot a Estimated PPD (points per day), and that'd be it!

If you're awesome, you'll let it keep going ;)

I know it might sound like a PITA (and if you get a message about OpenCL.dll missing, I can help out there too...) but the information would be really nice to have!

Off Topic, but any idea how to get the Stream client of distributed.net working? Is there a newer version somewhere that properly supports OpenCL?

Sorry, don't know - but if you create a topic over in DC, I am sure someone does :) There is a Seti race on, so I think there is even some decent traffic there right now...

following the links you gave me, adding or choosing a gpu fails on me. i don't know why.
