got rockband, gta, halo 3...what else is there? haha...

I was also thinking of getting the cooler pack...is that worth it? The 360 is from mid 2006...so warranty for RROD may run out soon (3 years on initial warranty).

Also, where can I get an extra wireless battary pack? I have one, but I need another (I have the charger, just no second battery pack).

I liked GTA4 a lot, Gears of War is really fun too. Careful with those coolers though, I believe it's the Nyko intercooler that makes you plug your Xbox into that and it serves as an intermediary for the power to travel through. I've heard stories of that frying the Xbox and voiding the warranty.

Don't bother with the coolers, I don't think they'll prevent the RRoD and are wastes of money in my opinion.

Check around (FS/T forum, Amazon) for extras like the battery pack. I think its only like $9 new anyways.

There's a lot of good Live Arcade games. Gears of War, Bioshock, The Orange Box, Call of Duty 4, Burnout Paradise, Grid, Forza 2, and there's more as well. Maybe check out the demos first (you might read up to see if the demo is a good assessment of the game, some are, some aren't). I think Fable 2 is due out fairly soon. Only about 6 weeks until Gears of War 2.

I'll second this recommendation. I had several battery packs and after about a year two suddenly went stone cold dead. I have no idea why, but after that I simply quit using them completely and switched to rechargeable AAs.

I wouldn't recommend a rear exhaust cooler. It goes on top of two existing exhaust fans, so depending on whether the cooler sucks or blows, it will not move air out faster than the fans underneath, offering no cooling improvement or even blocking airflow, or it will block the air from being exhausted out, frying the CPU/GPU. RROD isn't caused by the fans anyways.

Though apparently there's a cooler that brings in air from the bottom, don't know how effective it is though, but it sounds like a better idea than the cooler over the exhaust fans.

As for games...Call of Duty 4. :)

I have a few of these games for PC already, so keep that in mind :)...I am looking for the exclusive 360 titles

I think I will get those rechargeable bricks for the time being...they are 10 bucks from sams club.

I want to get a headset...maybe hone in my halo 3 skills...probably play the olders ones to get the back story...I have never been good at console FPS...prefer my PC for that, but I will try.

Madden 07 was fun (my buddy has this)...but it seemed ungodly unbalanced in terms of running speed for the defense, no matter the team.

Forza 2 just hit 20 bucks new. Also comes with a second disc with all the extra cars and tracks. Pretty good price for a decent racer with all the extras.

And the Nyko EX series fixed the problem of blowing in rather than out like the old ones did, so it could help. I use one at my GFs house where I keep my second 360 at as she doesnt have AC. At home I dont use any extra cooling as I always have my AC cranked.

The standard headset works fine. I haven't used the plantronics headset before but I noticed the mute button isn't in an as convenient position as the standard 360 headset.

The wireless headset isn't worth the cost IMHO. I got it for free and it works ok but I just can't see spending that kind of money on it.

Oh, and that deal for the 13 months of Live in your link is good too. That's actually $1.00 cheaper than Buy.com or Newegg.

Not sure how cheap that 'pretty cheap' was. Stick to just a few exclusive game titles, unless you plan on replacing the 360 after it dies. If you plan to replace the 360 later with another 360, then spend away...

I say 'exclusive', since the titles which are WELL ported to the PC are almost always found cheaper via Target clearance, gogamer 48-hour-sales, etc and the PC versions have free fan supported addons (DLC). I have yet to see ebay prices lower than the prices I usually pay locally or thru retail online uber sales, although I have been known to buy a long discontinued title via ebay when the local channels are long past dry and the online sources are selling the last remaining new stock at MSRP. Of course if you don't have access to retail B&M stores, your options for 'cheap' are greatly reduced. (Kind of like my old engineering college town a couple decades ago, where the college population doubled the town headcount. The town an ancient Kmart, and a stripped down JCPennys, and that was it. Most music and electronics had to be mail ordered, or bought on holiday trips back home or road trips to the nearest metroplex.)

I have been getting the games mentioned for 20-25$ off ebay....so I have only put another 100$~~ or so , ontop of the initial cost of 250 (360, 2 wireiess controllers, 20gb drive, rockband, 4 other games).

I have not touched consoles since my playstation/n64...and that short 1 month period I had a wii.

felt it was time I owed consoles some money ^_^.

Invest in GTA4, FIFA(09 coming out soon), and an fps of your choice(COD4 or World at War coming in Nov).
