I don't get it. Did you actually check your paypal account via their website or through your e-mail?

 Hmmm, well Merry Christmas!! Really I would contact the sender and then Paypal. Chances are it was sent accidently (similiar name on account, etc.)

Its probably a scam.

1. Stolen credit card funds get sent to you.
2. You, being a good samaritan, contact the sender and send the money back.
3. Paypal credits back the fradulent charge and charges you $500.
4. You are out $500 you sent to the sender.

Dont click on any link in that email, its probably a phishing scam. Check and see if the payment is in your account.

Theres your clue. This money can be withdrawn from your account at any time by you or paypal. Just leave it there and collect interest. After you inform them of the error they will take the funds back. You may or may not get to keep the pennies in interest. But if you withdraw it, they will lock your account and send it to collections after a certain grace period to replace the funds. Dont touch the money at all.

Felix is correct. Stay far away from that money.

About the only thing you could do with it is donate it to a non-profit organization, like food for hungry children or something like that. Paypal likely wouldn't go after you or them for fear of bad press. Make sure it is a *non* profit organization, as not-for-profit org's can be scammers.

NO.

Paypal is evil and does not give a crap about PR.
