I just found out my ex GF has a cataract, she also has glaucoma.

She told me tonight she was diagnosed with the cataract. She has had glaucoma for 5 years now too. She was rather upset.

Her wait for eye surgery is one year. Hopefully everything goes ok for her. They told her she may not need to wear glasses anymore except maybe to read with.

I told her everything will be fine and with luck she may be bumped up a bit on the list and get her eye operation sooner.

If things are controlled properly, then there is nothing to really worry about.

My exGF will be fine, I am sure of it.

That's because they don't want to wait a long time for treatment. Our health professionals are dedicated hardworking people with tremendous skill. The same could be said of US healthcare as well.

Yes, she has had it for over 5 years AFAIK. She may have had it before I met her, but I don't usually pry into that personal an area of a woman.
