well first of all, that's an amazing game, I'm having hard time figuring out which one was the best I've ever palyed, this one, or far-cry...

Anyway, there I am blasting Dr. Breene (or whatever's name is), and then there's a big explosion, or actually the beginning of it, Alyx is gonna fry, and then this dork with a suitcase comes out, and tells me that I know what happens next...
I'm like WTF?! No, I don't know what happens next... but the next thing that happens is the credits start rolling, and I'm like, you gotta be sh!tting me man!

what did I miss, and what de hell is going on?

I don't get it either, but I've been known to not pay attention to storylines, etc... I have no clue why it ended like that...

Everyone else who played it saw the same ending you did. It's not like there's a secret ending where they explain everything. We don't know either.

The "dork with a suitcase" removed the Gordon character from that timeline at the instant the teleporter detonated. Gordon was placed back into a kind of "limbo" where he's stored until he's needed again for another mission. Alyx is presumed dead along with her father and that crazy scientist chick with the short hair. The only people who might be alive at this point are Barney and that other old scientist. That's what I take out of that ending anyway.

Now, from what I've heard about the upcoming expansion pack, apparently some of that is wrong. I think Alyx and Gordon are going to somehow be reunited and a good portion of that adventure will revolve around the two of them leaving the city. How Valve is going to explain that one, I don't know.

Valve doesn't seem to care too much about the story line anyway. They just dance around the mysteries left over from the first game and open up more questions.

sounds reasonable to me, but perhaps I was expecting a little more detailed story...
I'll be looking forward to that expanssion pack.

I don't recall anything happening after the credits. Except for the cute head crab being up to some mischief.

If you notice, the Gman pulls a hair off her clothing. She gets dragged along too.

I believe the "you know what happens next" is a reference to HL1. Where after you beat the game the G-man offered you a chance to follow him or take option b and get killed by 100s of monsters. So I think at the end of #2 that was sort of his way of saying you know the routine.

half-life isn't known for good or conclusive endings.

True enough ... it is more about the gameplay and immersiveness than grandiose endings. And honestly, after playing, aren't you intrigued to figure out what comes next?
