I'm 24 years old, been shaving for almost 7 years and I just discovered something about shaving for the first time. Apparently, if you shave before taking a shower you get a much closer shave. My entire life I've been always shaving after the shower and I could never get that perfect shave.

So today, per somebody' suggestion I tried before the showever and apparently dry skin shaves much better.

i only shave before showering b/c the shaving cream doesn't stick as well to a wet face.

I shave in the shower, never had an issue getting a close shave though.

Wow, I have to try that. I thought being in the hot shower helped shaving - but I guess that makes sense, hot water will swell skin, so you don't shave as deep as you would have.

When I shave any time other than after a shower my skin gets irritated and it's not noticeably closer at all.

Before shower = closest shave, but can be rough on sensitive skin
After shower = more comfortable shave, but not as close

same thing I have discovered.

Unfortunately, I am cursed with extremely sensitive skin (as in, I can really only shave every other day with a razor) on my neck.

This applies both to razor and electric. If you using razor you still wet your face, it's not the fact that your skin is dry but rather that it isn't soaked in warm water for 15 minutes.

And I have a fairly sensetive skin. Yes, it's a little more unpleasant to shave before the showever but not to the point where it bothers me.

Same here.

Though I'd like to try a shower shave but I don't have any room in the shower with all my wife's "products" in there. Barely have room for my soap and shampoo...

My beard is so manly that razors, both electric and conventional, burst into flames if they get within 1 foot of my facial hair. But then again, I am Chuck Norris' illegitimate son.

Exactly. I found that when I shave before I shower I get more razor burn, but I don't get as many ingrown hairs because it's NOT as close.

It is because of the latent body oil on your face. After your shower that all gets washed off.

So the razors are as sick of the Chuck Norris stuff as I am?
