I just couldn't get myself to plunk down $360 for a GF3

I really wanted the GF3 but I just couldn't do it. $360 for GF3 when I paid less than that for my KT7A and AXIA 1ghz @ 1.33 together, was just too much to be spending on a Vcard when I upgrade this stuff at least once a year.

I've actually got a spare 1ghz TB I bought back in January that can only do 1100 but just had to try one of those AXIA TBs the I kept reading about. And I thought I may as well get a KT133A mobo as well so I just got that stuff about 2 weeks ago.

The last Vcard I bought was a Geforce1 DDR that I paid $180 for in August 2000. I decided to settle for a Geforce2 GTS Pro for $140. I know it won't do anything close to what a GF3 can but it just made more sense at a time when computer stuff is so disposable.

Hopefully the $220 I saved will be able to buy a GF3 in 6 mos. if I have to get one then. Or perhaps, it will buy me a Athlon4 later on this summer, or the SCSI CD-RW, I've been wanting to get to replace my aging Plextor 8x20 CD-R.

The beneficaries of my constant upgrade cycles are my mom and sister's kids, they keep getting better and better computers each year that cost them nothing.

One of them is going to be really happy when I bring over a TB800/KT7/Geforce DDR system in a few weeks.
 
Dude, you didn't "save" over $200 by buying the GF2 pro, you just didn't fork out as much. Be happy with the GF2 pro. Don't make those greedy b*stards at Nvidia any richer! My damn car payment each month is half of what a GF3 costs. 😛

Thanks for the offer but I think I'll keep it. The 1ghz TBs are selling for so cheap now it's now worth it for me to sell it since I paid $200 for it. You're better off buying a new one. Besided you can get one of the AXIAs that will do 1.3 - 1.4 w/ air cooling.

The one I've got was from a very early run and could only do 1100 stable but it was very stable at default voltage. The funny thing with that chip was even if I bumped the voltage up to 1.85v, it could not go any higher w/ any kind of stability.

Eventually I'm sure it will find it's way into my mom's or niece's computers.
