I just coughed up a foul smelling, semi-hard "crumb" thing, WTF is this?

This thing was lingering in my throat, so i coughed it out. It looks like a broken off piece of a peanut (the white part), but it's like a peanut that's been soaked in water for a day, it's not as brittle. And it smells pretty gross. If i were to pack it together, it would have a diameter of 2-3mm's. What could it possibly be? I REALLY don't think it's food that i've eaten. The only clues that give it away are the texture, smell, and color. I do always have a bunch of crap in my throat in the morning, could this be related?

Well, you were told to gargle when you got your part time fluffer job. A piece just dried up that's all.

Yeah, some people just have those! No need to worry about it....if it happens a lot (and I mean all the time!), just go see a ENT Doctor and he will most likely just rinse out the back of your throat with a syringe and saline. In the meantime, gargle with salt water really well back there....things get stuck sometimes! :)

The smell can be from debris from your nose or left over food...often times, it contributes to really bad breath, hence the notion of gargling really well!

ENT = Ears Nose Throat Doctor! Sorry!

Yah it can be the result of post-nasal drip, phlegm, food particles, or boogers. Basically your snot decided to harden up and crawl into your throat.

When I had sinus problems My ENT doc told me to 'wash my nose' Basically get a warm cup of water & disolve 1 teaspoon of salt in it and then suck it up through my nose and expell through my mout :Q

It was very uncomfortable at first but it sure did get a lot of crap out. I had an enlarged Adanoid that was causing me sever sleep apnea and multiple ear infections over 2 years when I never had one in my entire life. Lucky for me I had an operation and my sleep apnea is now in control.

Cheers,

Eww.. once I blew a booger out of my nose that was surrounded by a thick layer of mucus. It was about as large as a penny.

It's called a sneeze nugget, usually formed in the back of the throat around the area of the tonsils and tend to show up more commonly when you're fighting a minor illness. Caught a cold lately by chance?

No cold. I've been taking vitamins and staying fit--trying to fight off sickness for as long as i can. It's been working well so far!

hahaha! Exactly the same as me. This is one of those things that the Internet is great for! I always was quite disturbed by the disgusting little things
but I was NOT about to go up to someone and say 'Hey, I am caughing up little white chunks of something that smells like sh!t'. But on the internet one can admit all thier disgustingness! woohoo.
