I had no idea that the coils in the bottom of the dishwasher would stay at 500 degrees for three hours. I was getting a spoon out and dropped into the bottom. When I tried to retrieve it my palm touched the coil. I haven't had a burn this bad in a while.

:(

It actually does make it tough to type. Getting some aloe vera and a band-aid right now.

Not as bad as first thought. There isn't a blister and the pain is subsiding.

Actually, where I work burns are a way of life. Next time you go to the doctor get'em to write you a scrip for Silver Sulfadiozone(sp). I always have some in the frig, just in case.

I burned my arm the other day at work. I accidentally touched the bottom of my arm to the oven. 500 degrees is pretty hot. Heh. I burned my finger between my knuckles a few weeks ago. /me mutters about the ovens at work.

I have a question for you - why are the coils in your dishwasher exposed?

And why do you keep your utensils inside your dishwasher?

I have no idea why the coils are exposed. I had just washed the dishes a few hours earlier and hadn't unloaded them yet. I was going to hand wash other dishes first the unload the other ones and do a new load.

ouch....but you sound okay now at least. I remember what it was like to help out at my friend's parents' restaurant..........the dishwasher there was one of those fast huge ones, and it was f*cking hot......my hands are pretty soft, haven't been abused much (insert joke here), but after a few weeks of that I felt like my hands belonged to a construction worker.
