I know some of you are like .... so what, but I just had share it with someone!

This is by far the coolest purchase I ever made and I can't wait to get delivered and set up!!

Its a 1980 Bally Silverball machine. Its in awesome condition -- nothing more than normal wear and the backglass is simply GORGEOUS!

Check out some pics on another site

Anyway just wanted to share my joy!!

Later all!!

I have a ton of pinball machines at home. Much better investment than arcade machines, since you can never truly beat a pinball machine, plus they are easier to fix and keep in top shape.

A pinball machine, an air hockey table and a pool table are the three wildly impractical (for space reasons among others) things that I've always wanted since I was a kid.

Congrats!

Thanks fellas.

As far as cost it ended up being about 1K. Its a little tought to put an EXACT # on it since I also bought the pin and a gutted 4p Aracade cabinet that is being turned into a MAME machine for a total of $1100.

When I am ready they will deliver the pin to my house and do a complete setup, levelling etc. It is a warranteed item by them and best of all they have a 1 year trade up program.

Now I just need to unload a few things around the house to make a few extra bucks since I was planning on getting just the cab for the MAME machine. I knew it was a bad idea when they plugged in the pins for me to "TEST OUT" :D. I played about 10 different ones while I was there ranging from vintage (1966) stuff to modern day (megabucks -- over 4K) ones and this Silverball machine just hit me as "IT".

I equate it to when you shop for a house and you come up to one (may not be the biggest, best, or prettiest) that you know is just the house and no matter how many more you look at you keep coming back to that one.

For me the Silverball was it .... it was the 4th I tried and from the moment I saw the backglass on on and saw it lit up and heard the sounds affects I was HOOKED. It plays so smooth and was true fun. The warehouse I was in must have been 120 degrees(it was 95 in Richmond, VA today) and I was sweatin' like a dog in heat but I didn't want to leave. It was really fun (some of the most I have had with my clothes on :D LOL!!). They probably had 50 or different machines some in 100% ready to go condition and some in fixer-upper states and some in pieces. It was truly cool to get to sample a bunch of machines.

I am going back tomorrow to get the MAME cab and I will snap some pics of the Silverball. I was really impressed with how nice the machine looks considering its age (about 20+ years old). The best part is that being a Bally machine any replacement parts I need for it have modern equivalents that are readily available and fit just like the original so if something breaks I am all set -- this one of the major reasons I went with this machine over a few others.

Anyway just wanted to share my excitement with you fellas since most of you have known me for sometime.

Later!!

Greg
