I just bought myself a new 754 mobo, was that stupid?

I had an Epox that never wanted to cooperate with me, so I just got myself a new DFI Lanparty UT 250GB board, and up'ed my RAM to G.Skill 2x1Gig PC4000 to go along with my Athlon64 3000+.

I getting into Photoshop a lot, so I wanted to up my RAM anyway. I figured $100 for a new board made for sense for me than >$300 to upgrade to a new platform. I do mostly photoshop, some video editing, and only play games every so often.

What do you guys think? Smart move, or idiot?
