I just bought my first car ever!!

I've been driving my 98 honda accord since college that my parents got me. Currently putting a 215K miles then thought was about time to get a new car. I just picked it up last Sat got it for 28K plus fees.

But for some reason I feel guilty that I could still drive the accord for maybe another year and keep saving $$. And the gas prices these days is getting ridiculous. But other part of me is saying I recently turned 30 of age and time to grow up and drive a better decent car. Anyone else here feel that way??

Might want to keep the Honda as even with its milage it has a very good chance of out living the audi 😉

I am keeping the Accord for some commute, but since the Audi is certified which is good for 100k. Currently has 27K on it.

I hope that they gave you a long extended warranty, since Audi parts are notoriously expensive! We're talking $400 for a radio amplifier, and $100 for a change tray! Yep... $100 for the damn change tray!

Update: 100K isn't bad IF it includes the 80K timing belt change. That is also really pricey.

You could have purchased a newer/nicer car that got better mileage.....even perhaps one with an electrical system that wasn't designed by squirrels on LSD.

Newer Accord wouldn't be bad, would get better mileage too

For example you probably could have scored a brand new BMW 3 series for close to that which gets a little better MPG.

Or if you weren't focused on a luxury brand you can get a number of new good cars for significantly less that get a lot better fuel economy.

Don't listen to 99% of anandtech telling you that you purchased a bad car. Audis BMWs and so are are excellent cars. While electrical problems may exist, the cars themselves have much more character to them than your Accord, Camry, Civic. My dad would probably shoot me dead if I were to purchase one of those cars as they are nearly flat out boring to drive.

Enjoy your car, I think it's an excellent choice.

For example, how about a gas pedal position sensor that failed and got stuck at 100% throttle while accelerating until I turned off the car? That made for quite an exciting driving experience in my old A4. So much for "superior drive by wire" throttle controls!

Loved that car... until it tried to kill me 🙂

Seconded, this forum is filled with indians and asians and they all LOVE boring sedans. You buy a commuter to commute and a CAR for driving.

Grats on the purchase. I love the driving experience of Audis. Even my Accord that I've improved the handling on with new shocks/swaybars/etc. doesn't feel as good as my dad's '99 A6.

good car, just take care of it.

dont let these stuffy nosed bastards down talk your car.

all cars are notorious for one issue or another...it typically comes down to maintenance.

Ahhh no. VW/Audi has a long history of low reliability. Hell even the CEO of the company admittied it.

My sister in laws Audi has needed 1 O2 sensor, 1 brake light, 1 repair on the convertable top plate, and 1 replacment of the in dash cupholder. She has owned this car less then 3 months.

When I was a auto tech, for other shops and my own, VW/audis were always a pain in the butt. I even had one go up in flames.

Ahhh no. Audi does not equal VW. Look at any of the reliability rating surveys, Audi is way ahead of VW and is on par or ahead many of the Japanese brands. Audi has low reliability because Japanese fanboys who have never owned one keep spewing the same nonsense over and over.

Yep. We drive VWs and have had quite a few issues with them. But we've spoken to the guys at the Audi dealership and they are having issues with not enough Audis coming in for service. They're built better.
