Does the Microsoft 3 year warranty extension apply to that since you bought it refurbished? If the warranty does not apply, you got a very, very bad deal since it's very likely that it will die prematurely.

The warranty on any new computer system is 1 year. However, on refurbished systems, it's 90 days.

By the same token, I wouldn't be surprised if the warranty on the Xbox wasn't 3 years. I'd venture and guess that it'd be at most 1 year, maybe less.

it's ok. not as good as when I bought mine new for $230 from hollywood video earlier this year, but good nonetheless. especially if the 3 year warranty applies.

Well, if it isn't covered under warranty and it gets the RRoD, it takes about an hour of your time and $5 in parts from Home Depot to fix. I've done the fix twice with good results.

They are legit, I decided to cancel the order because I believe mugs is right... If the system is a refurb than I dont think it is covered by the 3yrs. I rather buy a new one or a used non-refurb & be covered for 3yrs. Thanks mugs, you saved me.

Decent deal IMO. Assuming you get RROD, if you didn't mind opening it, you could do x-clamp replacements, which prob will fix it. Of course, this voids the warranty...

BTW: There's been mod chips for 360 out for awhile, but they're nothing more than glorified firmware flashes. All it does is essentially piggyback off the drive firmware chip, and use the modchip's firmware chip rather than the real firmware. Almost no point.
