I just became a non-subscriber

Last year when anand started to tweak the forum dog slow, I had no choice but became a subscriber and I was happy.

Now my subscription expired, and I became a normal user. I am STILL happy 'coz the forum for regular users is *beep* fast!!! Just one banner on top of the page which is so easy to be removed by any ad blocker.

I don't want to be a subscriber now. What do I lose? Humongous PM history? It does not matter to me.

Remember, the non-subscriber forurms were not always this fast. About 2-3 months ago, things were pretty much at a standstill when it related to speed. Things are good now, though thanks to the upgrades.

Subscribing is a good think - I just wish I wasn't unemployed.

I'm in the former subscriber crowd, too.

Basically, realized theres not any upgrade features worthy enough of resubscribing.

The only thing that would sway me is to allow subscribers to post from AOL since that's the internet connection I have at work.

Great, now you told everyone the regular forums are back up to speed. Now everyone is gonna let their subscription drop. ;)

I would definitely subscribe if i wasn't in such a poor condition i am right now (no job). For me, it's about supporting Anandtech, in thanks for the site as a whole, not just for any features. I plan to start my subscription probably this summer, when i get employed again ....Then again, free is a great thing for now hehehe.

I'll subscribe as long as I'm a member here, these forums exist and a subscription is available :D

I'd subscribe if there were tangible benefits for me...not for the sake of making a donation.

But subscribers have 1000 PM's heh. That means I gotta clear all my PM's out, damn my subscription expires December 8, not sure if I can use the parents Credit Card, as I don't have my own.

i could never figure out how anyone could possible have more than 100 pm's they cared about until i started up a FS thread, and all the sudden 100 seems like nothing.

In the same boat as you. I use an isp that leased ip addresses from aol, thus i cannot post from home either. Will not pay for something that I cannot use at home.

the problem is that all these "exciting" features which were supposed to come with being a subscriber never appeared. A year after it was initialized(and subscriptions were starting to run out), Anand came to say that there would be new features, which have not materialized as of yet.

The new features are being tested as we speak

Another former subscriber chiming in.

Just don't see the use for paying for it anymore. It needs something else

<------ still a subscriber.

Despite the regular forums being back up to speed, I like to support Anand and the community around here. :)

Meh...I'm not a subscriber, but I was, and the only reason I haven't re-subscribed is because I want to slow down my forum activity. The 100 PM limit is occasionally annoying as ____, it is sometimes slow, and the ads also get annoying...and with the other ideas being conjured up by Anand, I think being a subscriber will still have plenty of benfits to keep them coming back.
