I just ate some 1+ year old deer hamburgers....

...that was left over in my fridge. My mom gave it to me a little over a year ago. A friend of theirs hunted deer and gave my parents some of the meat. She made hamburgers out of them and gave me a couple of patties. I completely forgot about them. I'm a little worried because they were in the fridge when we had those power outtages from the Hurricane awhile ago. The power was out for about a day at my place.

I didn't taste anything wrong with them but I cooked them for a long time in the hopes that they will be safe when cooked well done (to the point where they were burned and blackened). Hope I don't get sick....

If they were in the freezer, no problem. In the fridge section of your edible matter cooling unit....yer dead.

Were you that desperate for food? Heck the power outages alone should've told you not to eat that let alone it being over a year old. I hope they were at least Vacuum Saved! 😀

You probably cooked 'em to the point that all the nasty stuff got killed. Unless you spend the next couple hours in the bathroom, I wouldn't worry.

Why would you eat meat that had been in your fridge for over a year?

edit: Speaking of deer meat, I had some awesome venison sausage earlier today. 😀

yeah, you're a goner, just a matter of time :clock:

"(to the point where they were burned and blackened)"

Why even bother eating them like that? I don't know how anyone can eat any meat that's well done. Cooks all the flavor out of it.

Yeah, is this a joke? Surely you mean it was in your freezer. I don't see any meat could still be edible after a year in the frig.

Yes, I meant the freezer part of the fridge -- where the ice cream and stuff are.

Then you're probably ok. If not, well, have faith that your immune system is up to the challenge..

LOL... If it was in the freezer, it's fine.

You turned it into charcoal for nothing. 😛
