I jsut had a 20 minute conversation with a business owner who purposely convinced me not to buy anything from him.

As many of you know, I'm putting a new motor in my car. I called up a performance shop to ask about getting bigger fuel injectors. The guy who answered the pone wasn't sure what to do, so he said he'd have the owner call me when he got back from lunch. A few minutes later the owner called me back, and we talked for a while. He convinced me that the parts I have now should be sufficuent for what I'm gonig to be doing with the motor. He also gaves me tips on how to tune it, how to set up the fuel system properly, and how I could tell if I did in fact need bigger injectors.

He gave me a lot of good information, and told me not to buy anything when I called up ready to order parts. Gotta like a guy who puts service and doing things right above profit. :)

A very rare thing these days. I'd be sure to mark his shop down on my list of places to do business with.

Very rare.

I try to be that way where I work.

I just hope the owner never catches me! ;)

this has been my theory on business for a long time...i have sent many customers away or to different places because they could do better than what I could give them

when I was a mechanic, I found that this was the best way to get good loyal customers in the future.
I would rather have a customer who respects me and that will come to me in the future for more than a one time sale than just making a sale to make the sale. It is good bussiness in my book.

So saying that a question for you?
Do you think that you will go to this person later on for other needs?

Yes, I most likely would, although unless I buy a second mustang I probably wont need anything else from him.
