It doesn't really seem to use much processor or memory so I assume it works fine along side boinc?

Also in the "Need recommendation for DC project" thread it was mentioned that it could be installed under Virtual machines, is there a benefit to this?


Do many other people actively run dimes? If not then why not, since it doesn't use much CPU?
 
This is running off of memory as i have not run dimes in ages but here goes....

Dimes will only run one instance per os, so setting up multiple os installs on one pc is the only way to increase output.
There is a setting in dimes to change the delay between pings it runs, but that is about it as far as increasing time/speed of work.

I stopped running dimes because it conflicted with my firewall(comodo) and I could not figure out how to get them to play nice with each other. What was happening is that dimes would complain that it had no connection to the ports it needed when they should have been open. But when they were closed it thought everything was fine but sent out pings that were never responded back to by anything ever..... So I was getting points by having it bounce back from my firewall but not doing any effective science. I was too busy at the time to look into it further so i uninstalled. Maybe I will give it another go.
 
I do, I just install it on all my rigs and let it go.
There have been a few hiccups over time, but nothing too tragic.
Sometimes it seems the project managers go on vacation and then of course the project goes down and no one is there to fix it, sometimes the software freaks out and wants to write data to your HD until it fills up, these are rare. Generally it just works.
 
I was running it til my main rig died a few weeks back ,I forgot to re-install it 😱.

I've never had the write data error mentioned myself.

Last I checked (before you joined) their were only 4 active DIMES crunchers 🙁, myself, Wiz, mk & Fardingle.

Now their are 5, welcome to TA DIMES :beer:.

That's odd, DIMES's d/l page shows v 0.4.3/4, yet on my HDD I've got 0.4.5, where did I get that from? 😕 ....... ah I must of got the then latest client here. [edit] Their seems to be 2 DIMES sites!😛 & 1 isn't updated.
