Recently my quad, well the part right above the knee, little below the quad muscles. The pain is enough for me to warrent a little care with it, and since Im cheap and lazy, Im not driving to the hospital or anything for a doctor's opinion. Ive been skiing for the last few months (since opening in november) and never noticed this before. I do go off jumps that are quite big, and yes I land most of the time. These jumps are the only thing that I could think of that would actually hurt me, but seeing how it doesnt hurt to ski, Ive rulled it out almost completely.
Just recently Intramural indoor soccer at my college and whenever I kick the ball hard with my right leg, it hurts right above the knee/below the quad muscles. It doesnt hurt to walk, run, ski, jump, go up stairs, or anthing else, just when I kick the soccer ball. I have stopped shooting (when I need to kick somewhat hard) with my right leg until the pain stops.
Whats hurt and what should to heal it as quickly as possible?
Update: Went to ER because of the short notice and no appointments can be made on weekends apparenty. So I sat there for a few minutes waiting for the doctors to come get me, and finally when it came time for me. About 4 seperate doctors came in and talked to me about what happened and all thought it might be a pulled tendon but because they werent sure, they wanted me to get an X-ray. There goes $500 on insurance deductable. So I went to get a few X-Rays and after sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours (the computer system apparently wasnt working) I found out nothing was wrong with the bone structure in my knee.
They then recommend for me to go to sports therapist in another hospital to get an MRI... And because I did this over the weekend, I cant stay for an appointment. The only option would have been for me to either skip my monday class (and 2 friends also skip their classes) or try to get an appointment with the sports therapist up in Duluth. The only problem with that, is my parents health insurance doesnt cover appointments outside of the Mayo-Clinic community.
WTF the Mayo Clinic (main building) doesnt ****** have a MRI machine they cant look at? Its one of the best ****** hospitals and they wont check me on it... :|
And because the doctors that arent specialized in sports medicine, they cant give their opinion because of law suites that could come up. Man they (ER doctors) recommended that I stop activities for 2 months and rest my knee elevated and ice it. Nah I cant be inactive for 2 months, Ill go insane of boredom. Plus I dont believe their diagnosis is completely accurate, seeing how they arent specialized in sports medicine. I do plan on going to a therapist up here in Duluth to make I get a proper diagnosis. Only problem is its goin to cost a few grand that I dont have.
