Okay I have a system a built two years ago (I think). The motherboard is a GA-7VRXP. And that is what I think the problem is. Anyway, about a month ago the system started restarting over and over. Not it won't even power up. I press the power and the fans spin for 1/2 second and stop. I thought it might have been a bad power supply so I bought another one. Installed it and it didn't help. Now I noticed a yellow light on motherboard that turns on when I hit the power button. Anyone know what the light means? I tried the gigabyte website and they don't talk about it in any of the manuels. Help please.

i'd start by checking the pieces one at a time to isolate the problem...first try some other ram, then cpu, then video card, then mobo...it's probably one of them since you already replaced the power supply and i'm pretty sure that's all the computer needs to post..

If your little case fan is working, the beeps at BOOT are coded to tell you what is failing. See if it repeats itself each time you try to boot. If so, do a Google seach for more info. Also recheck the start button wiring pins on the motherboard. You can use a standard jumper and touch the + - "power" pins to start the system. I do this when I have a system on my desk without a case. If the power wires are correct, new power supply, and nothing "tries" to boot, then my guess would be the CPU.

Please jump in if you think I am wrong. Never stop learning.

Sounds like a problem I saw not too long ago. Grounding issue. Check to see if there are any leads from your MB that are making contact with the case. I've seen some cases over time get warped from bad handling and weight applied to them. I would take the system apart and reseat the MB making sure that you have good spacers. It's kicking off to prevent damage to the system.

Just a thought...

Check the capacitors on the motherboard. If any are bulging (the tops should be flat. Any roundness is a problem) or leaking
(usually black stuff) that's the problem. Especially look around the CPU area of the board. That's where they faulty ones usually
were.

A while back (around a year or two...) there was a massive problem of faulty capacitors
being produced. If you bought your board around 2 years ago it is a good possibility that it has these capacitors. The problems
you're having sounds very much like the problems I had when the capacitors on my motherboard leaked.

Another thing you might want to try would be to reset the bios.

Also, do what's mentioned above...unhook everything except the video, proc and ram. Remove the power from all of those devices (one might be shorting out or something).

If that doesn't help it post, start replacing those 3 things...mobo, proc, or ram.

( I know it may sound stupid, but this will happen when the jumper is on "reset cmos" instead of normal, it's tricked me a couple times)
