I :heart; my PSP

A few years ago, right after getting my Xbox 360, I traded someone my original Xbox and a bunch of games for a PSP with a non-functional copy of Madden. I never bothered getting any games for it and it sat in my closet.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I was on a business trip and started getting a little bored. I had brought the PSP for the web browser of all things (any web is better than no web). I knew that there was a version of God of War available for the PSP, so I picked up a copy.

I haven't put the PSP down since. What a great handheld. This blows the DS out of the water. Memory Sticks are finally coming down in price and I just picked up an 8 gig one. I tossed some movies and music on there.

Anyway, what are some games that I should get?

I have God of War, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, Ridge Racer, Killzone, and the 2 Syphon Filters.

For JRPG time burners there is Disgaea, Star Ocean 1-2, Final Fantasy Tactics.

That's based on others' recommendations though, I'm waiting for the Jasper version before getting a PSP.

I dusted mine off when I got my PS3 and realized I could sync it up and watch streaming netflix movies on it

Obviously a matter of opinion, I've used my DS about 1000% more than my PSP 😛

Same here. In fact, I dont even know where my PSP is and my son's has been in the same spot on my computer desk for over 1.5 years. Its literally a big dust ball. We leave it like that for the hell of it. I clean around it. We are trying to see just how much dust this thing will collect before it becomes unrecognizable. 🙂

What's a PSP?

I have both and have my psp modded and a flash cart for my DS. I find the DS about 1000 times more useful. The Star Ocean, and Disgaea rereleases for the PSP are good. I heard Persona 1 is being released for it which will probably make me use it alot. Best thing I've played on the PSP is FFVII which you can play if you mod your psp.

Yeahm, FFVII was the last game I played on the PSP and that only lasted about a week, so I basically havent touched it since that games release. So I guess one year ago was the last it was turned on.

Once I got past Zelda, Mario Kart, and Super Mario Bros. for DS, I didn't find much else that I liked. Chrono Trigger was fun, but it shows its age. I've found that 99% of games on the DS, much like the Wii, are borderline worthless.

The PSP, on the other hand, with an analog stick and enough horsepower for 3D allows me to play the games I really like: driving and action. I'll have to check out some of the suggestions.

I'd wager that the PSP has just as much crap shovelware as the DS 😛
But if those are the games you're interested in, I can see why the PSP would look better to you.

I tried Zelda on DS but I didn't really like it. Just something about yelling at it and blowing on it that I found odd. The DS's games aren't as good as the classic Gameboy's IMO. I wouldn't mind getting a DS for Pokemon Platinum though. Maybe if the DS Lite gets a price cut after the DSi comes out. I'm broke right now. :disgust:

The PSP is a pretty solid console and is obviously more geared to teens and adult gamers where as the DS targets kids and casual gamers. The DS has a certain novelty factor to it as well. The PSP was the first console I bought after I gave up PC gaming. I've got God of War, Ratchet & Clank, Patapon, LocoRoco, Sonic Rivals, Ace Combat X, Daxter, Wipeout Pulse, and Jeanne D'arc, and the Sega Genesis Collection for it. The latter gets the most play. It's a PSP-1000 and I haven't hacked it. I also use it heavily as a PMP. Suits me fine. I'm stoked for Motorstorm and LittleBigPlanet. Il-2 is supposed to be coming out for it this year as well.
