I Heart Flickr

Last week, I was one of the "lucky" people who tried to log onto Flickr while it was down. Only about 30 minute span.

Anyway, they had a contest to fill in a picture and see who would get a free Pro account. Just got this email:

We're absolutely stunned at the number of submissions to our
impromptu colouring contest last week:

With 1,100+ entries to date, we've decided to spread the
love a little further than a single winner. (How could we
select only one?)

Because you rock, we're gifting you three months of Flickr
pro as a thank you for your outstanding creativity during
last week's downtime.

Then once your three month trial runs out, you'll register for pro and give them your money because you're so dependant on it.

Funny thing is, I was logging onto to the site that day to see how much a pro account would be. I was going to buy one 😛

flickr is cool i have a pro account. I just used their target service for printing pictures. Works great had pictures printed in an hour.

I like the community feel of flickr. I also like my Smugmug Pro for my work.

Flickr's great. I'm still tyring to get some of my family/friends who use things like Snapfish to switchover. Most of my co-workers are heavy users of it. I quickly ponied up for the pro account once I realized how nice it was.

The new(?) utility where you can tag photos to points on a map (although I would only use that for travel/vacation photos) is really nice.

I also wonder how long it'll be before/if they'll allow just a bit of skinning ability. Nothing obnoxious or dramatic (as it would look like crappy MySpace pages) but maybe a few main color palattes (white, black, grey.)
