Is scoring 13000 on 3DMark05? Can ayone confirm or deny this? If thats the case, i may no longer get a 7800 GTX and go for one of the X1800s. This is the best ATI card out so far? Thanks.

LOL yeah and I have an "Extreme" 7800 GTX clocked at 700/1800 that scores 16,950!

The XT manages around 9K so how do you figure an XL is going to do 13K?

I can't remember honestly but it sounds like thats way off. Is this the best ATI card out and why did they launch these first?

Because they just started producing hte XT cores, so they need time to get the Xts rolling.

The "best" ATi card is the X1800 XT, which isn't scheduled for delivery any earlier than about the 3rd week of November. Perhaps even later...

XL's can be found now but their price premium makes them a dead deal considering the 7800GT outperforms it for $100+ less.

I assume you are disputing the date?

I've heard anything from late of the first week to end of November. I'd guess closer to the latter.

Just the key snippet from that article:

He overclocked the card from a default 625MHz core/1500MHz memory to a magnificent 877.5MHz core and 1980MHz memory. He used dry ice and he cooled the FX 57 to 3617.5 MHz to reach this score.

Riiight. And who will be running 878/1980 on their XT?

I don't think it has been released...

The XT hasn't been released to the public yet but Macci was at the ATI launch event in Spain and like reviewers he got cards several weeks ago.

Well... Macci of course :) He and Sampsa where able to get their XL over 700Mhz with air cooling (the XT's cooling fan). These cards do appear to be overclocking beasts.

btw, they had no artifacts at 860mhz and only stopped there because that's all their software could O/C too!
