Yep, your right, I damaged my board by thinking it was the heatsink. A 1GHz T-bird runs at about 60C.

Yup. The Asus PCprobe utility reads the temp high. Just use the temp in the bios. It'c correct.

Does anyone know how much is the difference in temp reading? Or it could be anything up to 10 degrees?

Hey guys. I have a 1.2Ghz TBird running 266Mhz bus and I get ~42-48C. I have an Alpha PAL6035 with Arctic Silver on the core. The Alpha has the Sanyo Denki fan as well. I use the Asus A7V133 with BIOS 1003. I have it all in an Antec SX1030 case, and it's loaded with peripherals. The temps in the BIOS are EXACTLY the same as reported by the Probe. The only thing that is wierd is that the Probe reports incorrect voltages for me. :) If it isn't one thing, it's another! I use the 300W PSU that came with the case, too. I've tried an Enermax 531W and it reports the same voltages! Wierd, eh?
