I go to college and was just sitting at my computer with no music playing and I heard what sounded like a song coming from my speakers. It was very low but I could hear a beat and the words to a song. I had winamp open so i closed it and still heard the voices, please stop the voices. I went into volume controle and muted the volume but still voices. I figure it is some radio station or wireless speaker system somewhere but anyway it was strange. Has anyone else had this problem. I have acs 54 surround sound speakers.

You just think they are coming from your speakers. Actually, they are from right behind you. Don't turn around, just sit there quietly and hope they go away soon.... :Q

Happens from time to time with my ACS 48's. CB's and Hams mostly.

Actually I hear KIIS FM Los Angeles (102.7) on my Altec's. Yes I have the Dlink Radio but when its unplugged I still can hear it. I have it connected to my LIVE Value card on the front channels (I have it split for the speakers and head phones).

I think its something to do with teh sound card. atleast for me.

I heard it happens because of inefficient wire sheilding. Your wires connecting your speakers are picking up radio waves.

I dont have a microphone and even with the speakers turned all the way down and the master volume muted I still can hear them damn voices. Is it dead people?

Thats what i was thinking, about the shielding, because my roommate has yamahas, much nicer quality, and his plugs in with a audio a/v type cable and he gets nothing.

Happens everynight to me in PC speakers, TV, Stereo, etc. It's some moron with his CB Base cranked way too high.

I can tell you anything you want to know about chickens and chicken coops from listening to this rube.

All that speaker wire lying around makes for a good antenna. The girls downstairs from me gets stuff pretty bad. It'll startle you if you don't know about it ahead of time.

All poorly shielded electronic equipment picks up these so-called, uh.... hehe... Spurrious Emissions (I think that's what it's called). My bass guitar amp gets an AM station pretty well.

My cheap BOKA speakers do the same thing. I have these speakers near my closet so I don't turn around and freak. They are not magnetically shielded so they pick up alot of junk. I heard a girl call someone else a "byotch" on my speakers once. :D

Fathom5, how many chickens can you fit in a 40 square-foot coop? ;)

I occasionally pick up stray radio signals via my speakers as well. I'd guess it's partially due to the immense length of the wires connecting the satellites to the sub.

When I bought my stereo 10 years ago, I only had the amplifier, the tape deck, the cdplayer (all Denon) and my loudspeakers (JBL). No tuner (I only received it a few days later).
If I selected CD on the amplifier, inserted no CD in the CD player and put the volume to max, I could hear the radio (very weak). Strange, isn't it ?

Back in late '96, thee wife insisted I buy a "Store Bought" computer instead of building it myself. She wanted that warranty. I bought an IBM C55. Talk about a POS. Anyway, besides having terrible tech support. The speakers would pick up alll kinds of signals from local radio stations. In the end, it turned out that someone filed a class action suit agaist them and won, because the speakers had bad shielding. It also included the mwave 33.6 modem that came with it. The computer was supposed to have a free upgrade from 28,000 to 33,600 coupon included in the box. Not. Took them almost 2 years to provide the upgrade CD, if you insisted they send it. That was the last time I let someone else build me a computer.
