I hear no sound when I play videos on the web!

I recently was watching some videos on Youtube.com but I hear no sound at all! The image plays just fine, I have downloaded the most recent version of Flash player and I am also sure that i have turned up the volume. I have noticed that at other website I don't hear sound either, like in the cartoon about Jack Shitt (VERY funny by the way!). It only happens when I play stuff in my browser, listening to mp3's and playing dvd's through PowerDVD etc. works just fine. Does anyone know what could be wrong and how to fix it?

any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance,

a computer novice 🙂

1. Have you tried live365 or some other music-in-a-browser-window site just to see if something's affecting the browser itself or just a macromedia flash issue?

2. Have you tried unmuting the Windows mixer items?

3. Have you tried unmuting the Flash player at YouTube?

4. Have you tried going to Adobe's site and updating the Flash player per their instructions?

I have tried the first 3 things you mentioned, and that is not the problem. As for suggestion number 4, I only downloaded the most recent version of flasplayer two days ago. Isn't updating it kind of redundant then?

Thanks very much for the response, though.
