Ok over 4 years ago i was hopelessly addicted to diablo 2.

So much so that at one time after the v1.10 patch i was number 3,5,and 10 on the hardcore ladder.
I used to run Mep runs NO maphack and i kept a LOGBOOK of what it dropped .

I ran it 15k times....

so due to that i cant play online multiplayer games. I just cant. Its like crack to me.

Single player games i can walk away from and not play 18 hours at a time.

soooooooo what do you all recomend......

my hardware is as follows
3800x2
7600 gs (plan to overclock a bit)(just bought that one for 58$ off newegg)
1 gig of ram
tons of harddrive space

thanks much all
love to hear the recomendations

Jon

Diablo 2 was the most addictive game I have ever played besides Starcraft. I loved that game so much.

I don't play video games too much anymore, and none on the PC. So I dunno what to recommend.

It stands for Counter-Strike: Source, another very addicting online game.

If you were hopelessly addicted to Diablo 2, play WoW. Yes, you pay monthly (12-15 bucks), but it will save you money as you won't buy games every month. It is 1000000x the size of Diablo 2...and has many similarities.

He asked for single player games. Besides, Blizzard sucks anyways. They haven't made an awesome game since Blackthorne and haven't made a decent game since Diablo II.

Are you looking to play exclusively on PC?

Are you into any of the Tycoon games? They can be had for super cheap if you're not planning to be part of the growing mmoprg trend. And you don't need to have a supercomputer.

As for FPS games, Half-Life 1 and 2 are supposedly stellar in single-player mode, but I've never played them. :)

Although maybe I'm a little too old school to be recommending games...

If he stopped in 2000 he probably already played the original Half-Life. I second tycoon games though. Roller Coaster Tycoon FTW!

Oblivion is single player and although I haven't played it, people seem to love it. Just be warned that it needs a fast computer and that sometimes single player games can be very addicting as well. Oblivion takes a long time to complete, so if you enjoy it enough you may be addicted for quite a while.

A few years ago IIRC. Personally I wouldn't recommend it as a game to try, but I'm in the minority on that one.

i used to be an avid diablo ii player as well, and i didn't get any new games for years

recently i picked up Elder Scrolls IV: OBLIVION
It's a one player game, similar to diablo.

I think it's great. You play a first person warrior/thief/sorcerer (damn near anything you want, soooo many choices), and you level up, and collect weapons (just like diablo)
The world it's set in is amazingly huge. From what i've read, there is about 300 hours worth of play.

Seconded. And maybe look into Civ IV if you like strategy.

[Edit] Nevermind, Regs came up with a huge list. :Q
