I wanna restore my registry. I have found that just running the *.reg file restores the keys that are in the backup, but does not detroy keys that are not in the backup. I have some registry entries I need to get rid of, but I dont know where they are. How do I restore my registry so that the only things in the registry are what it is in the backup?

Have you tried running scanreg? Boot into dos and run scanreg /?. That will give you the options available.

I know you can backup and restore and fix that way, but I have not restored that way myself.

I run the fix about once a month to compact the registery.

system.dat and user.dat in the windows directory are your regs.
