I obviously installed iTunes and searched for all mp3's when I had my backup hdd plugged in. So I have two of every song, and one always says "File can't be located"

I uninstalled itunes and reinstalled, but still have the same problem. Is there an easy fix?

Delete your entire library and recreate it.

Select "show duplicates" from the view menu in Itunes, then delete the duplicates.

Stupid Itunes actually gave me 5 copies of some songs and I have no idea why. I hate Itunes.

Most iPods you have to.

The only thing that requires iTunes is activating an iPhone.

There are many, many iTunes alternatives for iPods.

I use it for my shuffle (which was a gift, but is decent for running/working out) only. Every other non-itunes solution I've tried has given me problems, itunes gives me problems as well, but more manageable ones.

Trust me, I wouldn't use it if I didn't have to.
