Yeah, I signed up in '99, but at some point it changed to 2001. Actually, I’ve been here since the geocity days. Stopped posting over some 'subscription' bull and didn’t come back for quite a while. I haven’t grown up here, just aged :(

The user database was lost in 2001 due to a server failure. They also had bandwidth issues and too many people using the service (this was before ad feeds), so they made a "premium" board that you could subscribe to and get faster performance. That didn't last too long :D

I remember when I joined ATOT- back in 1999 during the great Staples $50 off $50 printable coupon debacle. Bought a Microsoft cordless phone with it. It was badass! That whole situation made national news and caused companies to rethink the way coupons are distributed :D

I remember that Staples also let you use coupons on a pricematch to get sweet deals....I found a pair of Maxtors in my closet that were made in 2002/2003 that I am pretty sure I used Hot Deals to these...

Oct 15, 2004: How do you marinate your chicken?
I've got some frozen chicken I want to use on the George Foreman grill, but I've never made marinated chicken before (if you just stick it on, it doesn't have much flavor). I've been eating it with sauces on the side, but I want some real marination action on my food. So, after googling, I realized there are about 2.6 billion ways to marinate it, but I didn't know if they were any good or not.

So - how do *you* flavor your chicken? I want some good ways that people have actually tried :)

What is intereting is all the posters who have tried to shit on this thread!
But if you think about it, some people have changed their posting styles and have calmed down.
While other have no intention of changing! Why? Because this is the internet and you can pretty near act or behave anyway you want!
Yet some of us talk about hair that we have lost down through the years.
There are also a lot of people who have either left and are busy with life or have changed names and returned as a whole different person!
Over all I think ATOT has grown with the times and is evolving. Into what? I don`t know!
But you must admit these forums are a lot quieter and perhaps that is for the better!
Anyways -- These forum are where I have had monumental arguments concerning Israel and where else can you learn to build a Computer while also having these discussions?
Peace to all!!

I think originally I came from [H] - that was probably my first major geek forum, and within a month or so I naturally gravitated to AT. Lurked for a while, etc.. etc.. That was probably 15+ years ago. My username registration might not reflect that, but it's definitely the truth of when I started looking here.

That was... well... back when I was asking computer questions and shit. Time flies.

I know my Username says 2012, but I came to AT looooooooooooong before then. So not sure where that date comes from.

I actually spent like an hour last night reading some of my old threads, circa 2004+ (only lurked before that). I'm amazed at three things:

1. I'm still the same dumb kid I was 15 years ago.

2. I just know more stuff now.

3. It's been 15 years, but it doesn't feel any different.

I went from asking "how do I setup a Linksys router?" to doing IT professionally for the last 15 years. One of the things I've come to appreciate over time is that (some) people grow up & mature, and also that people's behavior isn't black & white. We all start out as little kids with whatever our default personalities are, and over time, we start to see the world more clearly & adjust our behavior in line with how we see the world.
There are also a lot of people who have either left and are busy with life

We should have an "in memoriam" thread...RossMAN, iamwiz82, LolaWiz, Quasmo, etc.

It's you, not us.
I don`t think so....
Actually I thought this was a good thread topic. So I posted it!
It is nice to see people posting about where they were when they started and where they are now and some of the changes that took place!

All good stuff!

Lurked hot deals in the late 90's. Joined because I was trying to figure out why people on the other political side thought the way they did. Several of my lifelong friends did a 180 and I was curious. 9 years later, I still don't understand the other side but I've got 36K posts.

So, life is good.:)

Me too. I had hair :(
Me too. :cryingcat: fml. I don't think I've ever posted a picture of me when I did; I have one that I could if I remember to take a pic of it with my phone. Not that anyone even cares but oh well.

I remember when I joined it was because I often saw my brother on here and it seemed interesting. I was a pretty far lefty at the time though I didn't think much about politics (weird, haha). Now I'm definitely a mix of right and Libertarian, which I'm sure would astonish my college-age self. Though the Libertarian streak was there even when I was 20, though I didn't know a thing about "Libertarianism." I've always been an "individualistic" type person in that respect.

Anyway. I've gone back and read old replies of mine a couple times and it's always a treat. My life was awesome back around the time I joined, compared to now, I feel like. Oh well. At least I don't smoke canna all the time anymore, LMAO, God what a waste that is. That's another thing my 20 year old self would be like: "OMG, you think weed blows? Who are you?!"
