I have very dim vision, whats the deal?

Have you ever been walking outside when it is incredibly bright out, say on a snowy day (for those of us with snow in the winter) with a bright sun reflecting off of the snow, and you walk into a building, the artificial light isn't nearly as intense as the brightness outside so your puples must adjust. Before they do though everything seems very dim? Well my vision is like this most of the time, not to a huge extreme, but its noticable. I havn't ever had an eye exam, I have one at the end of the month. I know I need glasses to read far off signs but not up close. I believe its near sighted. Any input ?

isn't this caused by like, some deformity in your eyeball? like it presses the lens too hard or something.... i dunno, i think i've heard of this before.

I heard (when I was a kid) that eating lots of carrots were supposed to be good for your eyes and prevent stuff like that from happening. Just bring it up when you see the doc.

Every single person in my family loves carrots and eat them quite regulary. Every single one of us wears eyeglasses or contacts.
