Given how desperate Trump is and the fact that he'd violate any law that gets in the way of the absolute power he thinks he has and with Barr paving the way for him to behave that way, Trump can do what he wants, all while delaying action against his acts of fascism via tangling everything up in the courts.

This has been his MO since the day he took office.

The timing of it all is his only make or break limitation on what he tries to force "his" gov't to do.
