I'm not much of a Mac person, but I have two G4s from work that have recently been replaced. Here are the important specs (as far as I can tell) from each...
Mac A
Single G4 450 or 500
Perfect Case
OS acts a little funky, (I think it has a bad RAM stick, haven't got that far yet)
Mac B
Dual G4 500
Busted up case (Angry Designer had this one, doesn't close quite right, etc.)
Was working for a while, now won't boot at all.
When it gets powered on, the fans spin and lights come on, but the power button in the fron lights up then quickly fades away, never touches the screen.
I'd like to make a Dual G4 with a good case if possible, but I'm not sure where to start swapping parts or what's interchangable.
As far as I can tell, the cases, power supplies, etc. are the same.
On the Dual, I'm not sure what's broken, I've tried different RAM and Hard Drives, but it refuses to do anything. The AGP slot has a little extra connector on it, so I don't know if a regular AGP card would work or not.
I was looking at the Dual to see if I could get the procs out, but the retention mechinism is a little weird and I can't see how the brackets come off. It looks like underneath the proc card there is only one slot, and I've seen upgrades from singles to duals, so can I take this proc card and stick it in the other box, avoiding the trouble of changing everything?
Any help would be appreciated, I'm not sure what I can pilfer from one to the other.
