I have too many fans, not making a difference in cooling.

Hello,
So far, I have 4 fans running in my system. 1 intake, 1 bracket fan on my CPU, 1 exhaust from my side window and 1 exhaust on the rear. All are rated at approx. 32 cfm's(80mm). Should I have more powerful fans? My CPU temp idle around 51-53c. I know the LANBOY does not cool very well, but I'm trying my best to cool it off. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Try seeing what effect the side fan has.
1. Turn it off and measure results.
2. Reverse it and see if any changes occur.

You may not need bigger or more fans.

lots of case fans doesn't always cool your cpu all that much more after a certain point. it will help keep your hd's and other parts cool. but cpu temp assuming you have a constant supply of fresh air relies more or the efficiency of the heatsink and how much air the cpu fan blasts past it.

ok it doesn't matter if you use stock those are too high for your ambient tempuratures so you need to get them down before you think of replacing your hsf. I would suggest using the side pannel as an intake as well as the front and you may need more fans or higher rated fans. what it seems to mee is that you are creating aslight vacumn by puling out more air than you are pushing in and that is not as good as if you created a slightly pressurized case. The more air you have in the case the more air their is to take heat away from your commponents. If you cannot see the front fan which you usually can't then i would replace it with more cfm which will make it uglier. teh side pannel should be fine and on the back you wil need more cfm to compensate for the more cfm on the front.

Another big thing is get rid of any stock fan grill that are built onto the case. They restrict air flow quite a bit. so just chop those s.o.b.'s right off.

hopefully this will drop your temps by 10 degrees for the ambient.

Yet another point, on your hsf which dirrection do you have the fan moving air and is it indeed stock or have you upgradded it?

i have 9 case fans. i use none. i leave my case open now. take off the side panel and see if the temp change.

Turn your side panel fan around and have it work as an intake. Remember your PSU acts as an exhaust fan, so you'll have a pretty balanced setup.

Yup, what beatle said. Need to balance intake and exhaust cfm. I just had to do the same to a customers box and it dropped the temps 4-5c. Side panel fans should be intakes.

9 case fans are nothing if they are low rpm :)

now if your case is so badly setup or ventilated that convection cooling works better then forced air... somethings deadly wrong.

Ya, you should try that. Also you may want to try adding a top blow hole and have an exhaust fan on the top of the case blowing all the hot air out.
