I have to write a paper on Privacy or Computer Security

It's not particularly interesting, but you could easily write a paper on secure passwords, their requirements, benefits, and scenarios of what could happen if secure passwords are not used. There is information available that tells how quickly a non-secure password can be hacked.

Good luck!

The fine print in Terms of Use documents.

I find them....intriguing.

Seriously, that's a wide-ranging topic. I'd recommend finding something a bit more narrow in that topic.

Private information being passed around unsecure networks, or data processing being outsourced to other countries. For example, there was a story in Wired News several months ago about a hospital that hired a private company to type all their charts so they'd be able to access them by computer, at 18 cents a page. That company hired another company to do the job for them at 15 cents a page, who hired someone else at 13 cents a page, so on and so forth, unless someone hired someone else overseas to do the job at 3 cents a page... and then after the job was done, stiffed them on their money. The person who actually did the grunt work was (understandably) upset, and then (not so understandably) threatened to release all the documents on the Internet, containing many patients personal health information.

A backlash against practices like this are beginning; you could research and talk about this. Even within our own country, much of the info you give about yourself could get transferred to the hands of people you never knew about.

i'm in a computer security class right now

talk about attacks, e.g. sniffing, DOS, ip spoofing, etc. i can share my notes. 🙂

We've been focusing more on privacy and personal information sharing so far. We haven't touched the security side.
