I have to write a five page paper on COPS (the tv show). WTH!?

Right to privacy? I wonder if they ask the alleged criminals before plastering their face all over TV. Only a few of the people ever have their faces pixelated out of view, and no criminal in their right mind would want to be on national TV. Seems like a sort of privacy invasion.

On another note, I love that show.

EDIT: Oh, pro-COPS viewpoints? Well, for someone like me who's interested in law enforcement, it gives me an opportunity to see exactly what it's like out there. And it shows people how dedicated police officers are to their work.

Don't know if that'll help, but it might a bit.

Like someone said, refute the anti- arguments. Illustrate how they use probable cause. Illustrate that they don't use excessive force... if you don't resist, you don't get beat down. Things like that.

You might want to talk about the effect of the camera on both the cops and the perps. For example, I would suspect that a cop is less likely to use excessive force when he knows the camera is rolling. Likewise, some random criminal may be less likely do something stupid (although it sure doesn't look like it) or make false claims later on because of the camera.
