When we moved here cable was not available so I had to live on dial-up. I prayed and prayed each day that the Cable fairy would come ( was hoping for RR) Well, one day the fairy did come it's name... COX CABLE.

The SOOOOOO SUCKKKK!!! not enough uck's in Suck to describe this service.

We got it in March of this year, first day we had it.. it went down.

Repairman out to visit..hmm let me adjust your line, there you go will be good as new. Next day.. Down again!

In the following first 2 weeks of having this service we were down 4 days, and multiple times of 1 hour here or there.

After my 15th phone call to CS and tech support, they sent someone else here.. He can find nothing wrong, and just says well they oversold the are we just don't have the bandwidth to support you, but I have been told by end of week we will have a new T1 on line.

Ok... end of week.. hey! i am d/ling at 15kb!! A new record! lol

It is now June as we all know. Service has not improved. My cable went down for 2 full days last week, and they have no idea why. We never did get the extra bandwidth yet, I have another rep coming out to the house on monday, and tonite these pages and everywhere i go i am d/ling at... 2kb!!!!

In all the time I have had Cox Cable my best d/l rate was 45kb omg! lolol and worst, no not the 2kb from tonite but less than 1kb!!

They lie, they each tell a different story when I either see them or call them. I have made 42 phone calls to tech support since getting this service, and 12 to CS.

The ONLY good? thing about all this so far is.. I have yet to have to actually pay qany decent money for this crap. When I signed on I got the first 3 months for 10 bucks, and b/c of my problems they have given me a free extra month, but that gravy train ends VERY soon..

I play games on-line HAH! when I can which has to be at about 4 am and I still ping about 140! People don't even beleive me when I tell them I am on cable.

My service is a running joke in one IRC channel :) and a source of constant frustration!

I thank anandtech for providing me this space to vent a lil, for I reallllyyy need to scream tonite!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Yeah, but where I live (which is right in the SILICON HILLS as we are called) this is my ONLY choice.. No other provider to turn to :(

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

can't wait to hear what they come up with on Monday as the next excuse, you would not believe the things in the past 3 months I have been told.

I am awaiting docsys to get here, I am on their beta test list, but they said, even that wont be in my area till about Sept.

AHHHHHHHHHH!!

Dang that really, really sux.

I'm going to be getting Cox cable sometime in July when it launches in my area.

I hope this isn't common with Cox.

That really sucks, AT&T @Home has offered fast affordable cable Internet to most of the Portland metro area EXCEPT for my portion of the city, I hope they offer it soon. In the mean time I still have 640K DSL which is so much better than dial up.

that makes me feel better. Im using @home and I thought they suck. but uptime has been great, the cost is high as att just took over my cable company. my pings suck so bad though most anytime of the day. playing games online my ping jumps all over and now they tell me on the phone its not good for games except on their network. If I get good sites I can download very fast and surfing is better. uploads are capped at 15k which can suck sometimes.

so Ive had it since last september and its never gotten better and i see no difference that att has taken over.

Cox@Home is great here in New Orleans. But I've heard alot of people comment about its worthlessness. guess I must be lucky.

My Cox has gone down one time in the last 6 months, and that was due to some dumbass utility crew cutting the wire. I regularly get 400Kbps d/l and can see 1Mbps on good servers. I live in San Diego btw.

Man sorry to hear that the service there isn't up to par. I haven't had any problems with Cox@home here in Orange County (Irvine). I started about mid march and there has been 0 downtime. I have pretty good speeds as well 3Mb dl and 300kb UL (theses are bits damnit!)

Hope you get it figured out.

I have visted most all the speed test sites there are on the Net, and one thing I always notice is that although Cox gets overall a horrific rating, people in California seem to do quite well with it. *sigh*
