I have to keep refreshing winsock every 2-3 hrs. when I lose wifi.

I'd like to know if anyone else is having this issue. This has only happened to me when I upgraded from win 8 to 8.1 Also, I've read that it's widespread, but MS refuses to fix the issue.

Ever since I've upgraded from Win 8 to 8.1 I keep getting wifi disconnects. I know its win 8.1 because my dad has win 7 and he doesn't have this issue. I also have an android and I never lose connection. It normally starts after a few hours of me being online via wifi. Everytime I lose connection I have to input netsh winsock reset in the command panel. Then I need to reboot my laptop for it to take effect and then I'm able to go back online. In addition, I'll flush my dns every now and then.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, have you found a solution, or do you need to reset the winsock as well? This is driving me crazy. Thanks.

That is not normal.
Do a sfc /scanow.
You can also do ipconfig /renew and see if it fixes it.

Thanks. I will do what you said, and hopefully I will be able to fix this issue. I had the same issue when I was in Thailand.

Maybe it's a driver issue?

Before I begin. I just wanted to let you know that I had my defective hard drive replaced by Dell before I left for Thailand. That was about 6 months ago. Besides the network issue I haven't had any other issues. I'm constantly on my computer. I play games, work, and everything else. It runs like a champ. I have a Dell Inspiron 14R.

I ran sfc/scannow and it told me that I had corrupt files. It was able to fix many of the corrupted files.

I also ran ipconfig/renew and it told me that it wasn't able to run because I had media disconnected. What ever that means.

Here is part of my log from sfc/scannow:

Is there anyway to fix that without deleting and doing a fresh install of Windows. When I got my new hard drive 6 months ago it came with a fresh install of Win 8.1

Thanks.
